Tenryū-ji, formally known as Tenryū Shiseizen-ji, is the head temple of the Tenryū-ji branch of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism, located in Susukinobaba-chō, Ukyō Ward, Kyoto, Japan. The temple was founded by Ashikaga Takauji in 1339, primarily to venerate Gautama Buddha, and its first chief priest was Musō Soseki (wiki)

nothing prepared us for the beauty of the Tenryu Ji gardens. it is said that it was made in such a way that it look beautiful from any side, any angle and any season and we couldnt agree more. everything looked wallpaper worthy. one of the most memorable places we have had the pleasure of visiting.
